Lead Software Engineer, Backend

You will

- Build and own Grab\'s gateway systems, connecting millions of consumer devices with hundreds of backend services via Grab\'s service mesh..

- Work at Grab\'s Viet Nam headquarters in Ho Chi Minh City, closely integrated with software engineering and product teams to help build rock-solid and secure solutions with the right interface, technology and practices.

- Be at home in a HA cloud environment and build scalable, zero-downtime network traffic routing and analytics solutions for Grab\'s \"public edge\", serving billions of daily requests from millions of Grab consumers and partners every day

Your Daily Routine

- Independently drive projects across teams end to end, from inception to rollout

- Find and troubleshoot issues in Grab\'s entire infrastructure and code base

- Develop, maintain, and operate control- and data-plane components, and resolve production incidents

- Implement quality solutions using Kubernetes, Go and C/C++, and maintain the high bar of standards for code reviews and deployment processes. You mentor peers and promote development and operational excellence best practices while achieving excellent user experience

Qualifications

You are a habitual problem solver, and naturally assume ownership of your team’s systems and software components. You know how to be responsible for mission-critical systems, how to iteratively deliver value, and

- Have a very good understanding of Linux, networking and the internet (TCP/IP, HTTP/[123], gRPC, DNS, etc.)

- Have significant industry experience with Kubernetes (clusters and services), AWS, and Terraform

- Know how to build, maintain, and monitor highly-available distributed systems with strict SLAs

- Are an expert in at least one of C/C++, Go, Pascal

- Have significant industry experience in operating highly available, public-facing high TPS Systems

- Can architect solutions that leverage emerging technologies while harmonizing with legacy systems

- Know how to assume technical leadership as part of and beyond engineering team boundaries

It would be an advantage if you have any of the following hands-on experiences:

- Dealing with massive concurrency and designing resilient algorithms

- Building monitoring and alerting systems

- Experience with DDoS protection & mitigation

- Large scale Docker / Kubernetes deployments

- Envoy (envoyproxy.io), its code base, and its community

- Working in a startup
